Karen Selby, Esq. is Of Counsel to the firm, specializing in employment law.  Karen has extensive experience in employment and labor law matters.

As an attorney and human resources professional, Karen M. Selby is a self-proclaimed “lawyer living in an HR world”.  Karen has served as the regional manager for human resources for a major publicly traded utility where she directed four regional human resources offices with oversight responsibility for labor and employee relations matters, including internal investigations and union negotiations.  Karen also worked as the director of labor and employee relations for the largest mental health hospital in the State of New Jersey, where she was responsible for the grievance and disciplinary process and represented the facility in administrative law hearings and arbitrations.

For the bulk of her career, Karen served as a Deputy Attorney General for the State of New Jersey.  In this capacity, she represented the Governor’s Office of Employee Relations in grievance arbitrations and Public Employment Relations Commission hearings.  She also maintained a prominent appellate caseload representing such entities as the Department of Personnel and the Department of Labor. 

Before joining the Attorney General’s Office, Karen worked as a Staff Attorney for Camden Regional Legal Services, where she defended the homeless and fought for the rights of Camden’s most vulnerable citizens in family court. 

Karen received her Juris Doctorate from Howard University School of Law.  She earned a Bachelor of Arts degrees from Rutgers University, Douglass College, in Political Science, History and Africana Studies.  Karen is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority.  She is married, has two young sons and resides in Maryland.
